Chateau Paveil de Luze is situated in the village of Soussans in the Margaux appellation of the Medoc and has been in the de Luze family since 1862. Currently the estate is run by sixth-generation winemaker Frédéric de Luze who took over in 2004. There are 32 hectares of vines: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc all planted on free-draining gravel soils. This excellent red is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot and is a typically fragrant example of a red from Margaux. It is aged in oak barrels for 12 months and pairs particularly well with goat's cheese.

An inky-purple in the glass. Scents of cassis, earth and sweet spices. On the palate, medium-bodied and balanced with ripe red fruit flavours and slight oak spice. The tannins are well integrated and the finish lengthy and complex. A very approachable red which represents great value for money. Drink with roast goose with sage, onion and apple stuffing, lamb casserole with caraway seed dumplings or a seared black pepper-crusted ahi tuna steak.
