Chateau Coutelin-Merville has been in the hands of the Estager family since 1902 and is situated in the commune of Saint-Estephe. The estate is currently run by Bernard and Francois Estager, great-grandsons of the original owner. They took over from their father, Pierre, in 1987. The vineyards are set among the hills of Coutelin and consist of 50% Merlot alongside other plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This rich and sumptuous red is a blend of 46% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot and is aged in oak barrels for 18 months.

A gorgeous purple-red in colour. Complex aromas of red fruits, cacao, vanilla and spice. The palate is powerful and concentrated with impressive tannins leading to a lengthy finish. Altogether a complex yet harmonious and balanced red. Perfect with oxtail stew, roast loin of lamb stuffed with kidneys, spinach, mustard and lemon or a chunk of mature Camembert.
