Vino di Anna is situated on the slopes on Mount Etna and is run by Anna Martens and her wine merchant husband, Eric Narioo. Before purchasing the 2-hectare estate in 2008, Anna trained at Tapanappa in Australia and Ornellaia in Tuscany. The mainly old vines are grown organically and at high altitude and include indigenous varieties such as Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Grecianco and Carricante. All is biodynamic on the farm and no added sulphites are employed. Vendredi 13 is a one off cuvée made in the 2021 vintage and is a blend of 90% Nerello Mascalese plus a little Nerello Cappuccio and various Etnean white grapes. A fresh and lively red, this goes well with poultry dishes.

A light ruby in the glass. Aromatic scents of red fruits and green herbs. On the palate, light and fresh with a pronounced acidity and juicy tannins. The finish is crisp with notes of red cherries and orange zest. Try with chicken thighs with lemon, olives and capers, pork caponata or balsamic roasted tomatoes.
