The Sokol Blosser estate was founded by Bill and Susan Sokol Blosser in 1971 in the Dundee Hills of Oregon, some 30 miles south west of Portland on America's west coast. They spent the following 6 years renovating and improving the vineyards and cellar and their first vintage was released in 1977. The 85 hectares of vineyards are farmed organically and the insect population is kept in check by a resident flock of bluebirds. The underground barrel cellar became the first winery in the country to earn the prestigious 'Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design' certification. Although Pinot Noir is the main grape grown, plantings of Pinot Gris, Muller-Thurgau, Syrah and Zinfandel have also been made. The Evolution Pinot Noir is from vines grown at 300 feet above sea level where the fertile silt and volcanic soils come together.

A bright cherry-red in the glass. On the nose, aromas of raspberry, cranberry and sweet cherry. On the palate, light and elegant in body with faintly earthy notes. A juicy and alluring red which could be chilled in summer. A fine accompaniment to poached salmon and baby beetroot, seared tuna with hoisin sauce or a quinoa, courgette and feta salad.
