The Sanchez Romate winery was founded by Juan Sanchez de la Torre in 1781 and is situated in Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain. It is one of the few remaining wineries still in the hands of local owners and in addition to be being one of the most important estates in the sherry region, the company is also the appointed Official Purveyor to the House of Lords and to the Vatican Palace. The dry and smooth Palo Cortado 'Regente' is made from Palomino Fino grapes and is aged for 15 years. Perfect as an aperitif or with a dish of Iberico ham.
A glorious amber in hue. Aromatic scents of vanilla and toasted nuts. On the palate, rich, fragrant and dry. Almost reminiscent of an Oloroso. The finish is lingering and clean. Try with French onion soup, baked scalloped oysters with nutmeg and cream or a selection of tuna, salmon and prawn sushi.
