The Caves Co-operative de Saint Mont has established a reputation for unrivalled consistency over the last 10 years and is now one of the best in France. Spread over 1300 hectares in the west side of the Gers department of southwest France, the company was founded in 1979 by Andre Dubosc who wished to return to traditional methods of making wine using local grape varieties only such as Ugni Blanc, Listan, Courbu and Gros Manseng. This particular red is a more orthodox blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and is a shop best-seller.

An intense ruby-red in colour. A rich nose of black cherries, blackcurrants and subtle peppery notes. Medium-bodied in texture with flavours of blackberries, cassis and a hint of leather. Refreshing acidity and a long finish make this an excellent food wine. Serve with rabbit and prune stew, duck confit or 'l'ouillade' - a hearty soup of pig's trotters, cabbage and turnips!
