Martin Arndorfer and his partner Anna Steininger come from a long line of wine makers (Anna is the daughter of Karl Steininger, one of Austria's most revered wine makers). After attending wine making school Martin gained further experience in Italy where he trained at the famed Ronco del Gnemiz with leading wine maker, Fabrizio Iuli. Upon his return from Italy, he and Anna began to make biodynamic wines under their own label 'MA Arndorfer' at the village of Strass in Austria's Kamptal Valley. All is strictly biodynamic, no chemicals are employed in the vineyards and the wines are neither fined nor filtered. The Vorgerschmack is 80% Zweigelt and 20% Pinot Noir and has a pleasantly tart acidity, making it a great food wine.
A bright cherry-red in colour. Aromas of plums, red cherries and strawberries with a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, ripe yet tart with a forward acidity and ripe freshness leading to spicy finish. Try with mushroom polenta, porcini herb-crusted lamb or a slice of Edam cheese.
