This excellent-value Pinot Noir comes from the stable of Stephane Vedeau and Claude Serra who make wines in southern France under the names of Domaine Nordoc and Domaine Boussole. Their vineyards stretch from the hot Mediterranean coast in southern France to the cooler Ardeche region of western Provence (from where this particular wine comes). Low yields and a ruthless approach to quality control means that behind the label lies some of the best value wines in the region.
A bright cherry-red in colour. A pleasant and aromatic nose of bright candied cherries with hints of vanilla and coffee. On the palate fresh, light red-fruit flavours abound with a light-to-medium body. The acidity is lively with a fresh and fruity finish. Good food wine. Serve with a mushroom risotto, lamb shank or even scallops in a mushroom and cream sauce.
