The winery is a family run estate situated in Gols, Burgenland in north east Austria and consists of 15 hectares of biodynamically tended vines, most of which are situated at the Wagram of the Parndorfer Platte, generally considered to be the best site in the region. The estate is run by Judith Beck who inherited the business from her father after having trained at Cos d'Estournel in France and Errazuriz in Chile. The grapes benefit from the proximity of Lake Neusiedi which acts as a natural storage heater, storing the warmth of the sunshine during the day and releasing it through the night. This hand-harvested Zweigelt is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 2 weeks, followed by further fermentation in large acacia wood casks for 2 months before ageing in oak for 10 months. This gives up a round and complex wine which pairs well with cold meats and terrines.

A dark cherry red with a violet rim. On the nose, scents of cassis, dark cherry and dusty earth. On the palate, soft and round with well integrated tannins and a touch of spice. Look for an elegant and stony minerality. The finish is lingering and spicy making this a good food wine. Serve lightly chilled perhaps with Austrian chicken paprikosh, porcini potatoe fritters with lambs lettuce or a chunk of Pont-l'Eveque cheese.
