The house was founded in 1966 by Jean-Paul Deville and is situated in the centre of the village of Verzy, just 20km south east of the Champagne capital, Reims. Jean-Paul and his daughter Marie-Alice run the estate producing a range of excellent Champagnes. What sets the estate's wines apart is the dominance of Pinot Noir in the blend, whereas most Champagnes are made predominantly from Chardonnay grapes with a little Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The Carte d'Or is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay and other vins de réserve. It is lightly oaked and makes for a vivacious aperitif.
A light golden in colour with a fine mousse. Complex aromas of apple compote, brioche and ripe pears. On the palate, beautifully structured with excellent length and vivacity leading to a slightly spicy finish. Try with seared scallops, roasted squash with mint and roasted pumpkin seeds or a rabbit ragu.
