The Winery of Good Hope is a large producer that also encompasses 3 leading producers from the Stellenbosch region of South Africa - Vinum, Radford Dale and Black Rock. The vineyards are situated in 2 parcels - on the Helderberg Mountain and in the Devon Valley. This particular Shiraz is from a single vineyard situated on the Heldeberg Mountain in the heart of Stellenbosch and comes from 30 year-old vines.
A crimson-red in colour. On the nose, a meaty core of ripe berry fruits with peppery and herbal tones in a package that tends towards medium-bodied with good acidity and soft tannins. Flavours of bitter orange, coffee and pepper. With further breathing the wine gains leathery and black olive notes that make it a great match for savoury stews and barbecues. Try with Bullfighters beef stew (with macaroni), rabbit with prunes or Moroccan lamb tagine.
