This crisp and refreshing white is made by the enfant terrible of Rioja, Gonzalo Grijalba. Having first studied biology at the University of Leon and then oenology at the University of Rioja, he proceeded to make biodynamic wine on his parent's land in the hills surrounding Fuenmayor. The Gran Cerdo Blanco is an exotic blend of mainly Viura with a little Muscat, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc among others. As ever, very little information is contained on the label other than a rant on the back label aimed at the bank managers who refused to lend him money to develop his business.
A delicate lemon-yellow in colour. Scents of cut grass, peaches and lemongrass. On the palate, dry with a pronouced acidity leading to a short and refreshing finish. Great with grilled asparagus, squid cooked in its own ink or a fish stew.
