The estate was founded by the late Gianni Masciarelli in 1978, the first wines being released in 1981. In 1987 Gianni married Marina Cvetic and between them they expanded the initial 2.5 hectares of vineyards to the present-day 320 hectares scattered in 14 different towns in the 4 provinces of Abruzzo: Chieti, Teramo, Pescara and L'Aquila. All the vineyards are very rich in minerals and clay both of which lend a distinctly 'stony' aspect to the wines. This approachable rosato is made from 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes and like most roses undergoes a short fermentation - in this case 15 days.
A vibrant cherry red in colour. On the nose, aromas of dried cherries and plums with notes of violet. On the palate, rounded and harmonious with a bright acidity. Hints of summer red fruits and orange peel lead to a refreshing finish. Try with tuna salad, shrimps in a Catalan sauce or grilled mackerel stuffed with onion, thyme and breadcrumbs.
