Vincent Ogereau is currently considered to be one of the outstanding producers from this dynamic region of the Loire Valley. The estate is situated near the medieval city of Angers and is run strictly along organic lines and Vincent is a master at producing excellent red wines from the Cabernet Franc grape, many of which have a great capacity for ageing. This particular red is a blend of 70% Cabernet Franc, 15% Grolleau Noir and 15% Pinot d'Aunis from old vines. It makes a very good barbecue red.
A delightful cherry-red in the glass. Look for a nose of damson fruit and stewed plums. The palate is harmonious with notes of cassis and red cherries. The finish is elegant and refreshing. Drink with spicy pork sausages, wild mushroom pate or a pepperoni pizza.
