Vincent Ogereau is currently considered one of the outstanding producers from this dynamic region of the Loire Valley. The estate is situated near the medieval city of Angers and is run strictly along organic lines. Its most famous product is one of the world's great sweet wines - Coteaux du Layon, Clos des Bonnes Blanches. However, Ogereau is also a master at producing excellent red wines from the Cabernet Franc grape, all of which have a great capacity for ageing. This particular red is a blend of 70% Cabernet Franc, 15% Grolleau Noir and 15% Pinot d'Aunis from old vines.
A delightful cherry-red in colour. Look for scents of damson fruit and stewed fruits. The palate is harmonious with notes of cassis and blackberries. The finish is elegant and refreshing. Drink with herbed pork sausages, mushroom pâté or a pepperoni pizza. Also makes a good barbecue wine.
