The organic estate of Thierry Navarre is situated in the beautiful village of Roquebrun, in the Saint-Chinian region of the Languedoc-Roussillon. Thierry is 3rd generation winemaker who cultivates 13 hectares of mainly old-vine Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. He also looks after a few hectares of ancient and unusual (Thierry calls them 'forgotten') grape varieties including Terret, Grenache Gris and Oeillades, from which this light and refreshing red wine is made. Oeillades is thought to be related to the Cinsault grape and is marked out by its low alcohol content (11.5%) and floral aromas. An approachable red, this would also benefit from gentle chilling during the summer months.
A pale cherry-red in colour. On the nose, scents of strawberries and pomegranate. Light and refreshing on the palate with further summer fruit berry flavours. The finish is short and crisp with lip-smacking acidity. Serve chilled with carpaccio of beef. Otherwise try with bouillabaisse or grilled artichokes with balsamic vinegar and fresh ginger.
