Since 1805 the Plageoles family have carried out the tradition of vigneron in Gaillac, producing white wines from the native Gaillac white grape varieties of Mauzac and Ondenc and red wines from the native Gaillac red grape varieties of Duras, Braucol and Prunelart. It is largely due to the family's hard work and adventurous spirit that the wines of Gaillac are placed firmly on the wine map. Currently the domaine is run by Florent and Romain Plageoles who tend the 23 hectares of white grape varieties and 7 hectares of red varieties strictly according to organic principles, using only naturally occurring yeasts. With it's distinctive orchard fruit aromas, this 100% sparkling Mauzac makes for a great aperitif or good value champagne alternative.
A clear, pale gold in colour with excellent bubble formation. Distinctive aromas of green apples and citrus fruits on the nose. An exotic palate of bananas, peaches, toasted nuts and caramel. Excellent floral acidity and a toasty finish. Ideal as a summer aperitif but also goes well with savoury potato pancakes, foie gras or spicy Asian dishes.
