Domaine Larue is owned by brothers Denis and Didier Larue with assistance from Denis's son, Bruno. The cellars are situated in the small hamlet of Blagny in the prestigious Cote de Blancs region of Burgundy and their 15-hectares consists of 5 parcels of vines spread between three villages: Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny Montrachet. This perfumed PM is from hand-harvested berries located in the 'Sous le Puits' vineyard, the highest of all Puligny-Montrachet vineyards and the fermented juice spends 10 months in 228-litre French oak barrels before bottling. Only 3'500 bottles are made so availability is necessarily limited.
A delightful golden-yellow in colour with pronounced aromas of smokey almond often associated with classic Puligny-Montrachet. Look also for scents of peaches and pears. On the palate, round and rich in texture with sweet almond and honey notes and a firm mineral backbone. The oak is nicely integrated and the finish lengthy. Try with roast fillet of veal with Dublin Bay Prawns, lobster and chicken fricassee with spring vegetables or wild duck served with a quince puree.
