The estate is based in Morgon and was founded by Michel Lapierre at the turn of 20th Century. However, the success of the modern domaine is largely due to the hard work and innovation of Michel's grandson, Marcel and his wife Marie, who took over in 1973. Today the estate continues to be run by Marie with the assistance of her son, Matthieu. There are 13 hectares in total including 2 hectares on the fabled Cote de Py, and the estate has been organic since 1981. This juicy, approachable red is 100% Gamay from a 9-hectre plot of 60 year old vines planted on granitic soil. The berries are fermented by carbonic maceration and no sulphur is used in the cellar. After bottling the wine is left to rest for 2 months before release. Fruity and fresh with low tannins, this makes for a great accompaniment to robust fish dishes.
A vivid crimson-purple in colour. On the nose aromas of red cherries, cassis and strawberries backed up by pleasantly earthy notes. The palate is fresh and juicy, with further red fruit flavours and silky tannins leading to a refreshing finish. A real fruit bomb! Try chilled with roasted cod with a chorizo crumb, coq au vin or prawn dumplings with a sweet chilli sauce.
