Domaine la Ferme Saint-Martin is located in the village of Suzette in the upper part of the Beaumes de Venise and was founded by Aimé and Yvonne Jullien in 1955. Today the 36 hectare estate is run by their son, Guy, who took over in 1979. The estate became fully organic in 1998 and the vineyards occupy a privileged south facing position overlooking the Lubéron at an altitude of 400 metres. Their vineyards are divided into AOC's Ventoux, Côtes-du-Rhône and Beaumes de Venise. 'Terres Jaunes' is a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah from vines grown on limestone. Yields are low and the wine spends a short period in oak vats before bottling. It is unfiltered. Spicy and rich, this is perfect with stews and game dishes.
A clear garnet-red in colour. Scents of morello cherries, dark chocolate and liquorice with hints of cinnamon. The palate is robust and savoury with further spicy notes. The finish is lengthy and the tannins are discreet making this a great food wine with lamb stew with swiss chard and garlic toast, daube of beef with spiced beetroot or pancake rolls stuffed with red cabbage and wild mushrooms.
