Domaine du Meteore is situated at Cabrerolles in the appellation of Faugeres and is owned by two English doctors who took over the estate in October 2018 from Guy and Geneviève Coste-Libes (2016 was to be their last vintage). The domaine is so named due to the presence of a 10,000 year-old meteor crater situated in an area of the vineyard named 'Le Clot' where the vines grow particularly well. 'Les Leonides' is a blend of organically grown Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault and must be one of the bargains of the appellation. A meaty wine packed with heady aromas of dried red fruits, this would be great with a rustic stew.
A vibrant cherry-red in colour. Aromas of dried red fruits and roasted coffee. On the palate, fresh yet full-bodied with further flavours of red berries and dried herbs. The finish is full and lengthy with excellent acidity and firm minerality making this a very harmonious wine. Drink with a cassoulet. saddle of lamb catalane-style or a simple dish of spicy sausages.
