Domaine du Meteore is situated at Cabrerolles in the appellation of Faugeres and is run by Geneviève Libes-Coste. The domaine is so named due to the presence of a 10,000 year-old meteor crater situated in an area of the vineyard named 'Le Clot' where the vines grow particularly well. 'Les Leonides' is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan and must be one of the bargains of the appellation. A meaty wine packed with heady aromas of dried red fruits, this would be great with a rustic stew.
A vibrant cherry-red in colour. Aromas of dried red fruits and roasted coffee. On the palate, fresh yet full-bodied with further flavours of red berries and dried herbs. The finish is full and lengthy with excellent acidity and firm minerality making this a very harmonious wine. Drink with a cassoulet. saddle of lamb catalane-style or a simple dish of spicy sausages.
