The Marionnet family arrived at Soings in the Touraine at the beginning of the 1960's and began to enlarge and completely replant the vineyard between 1967 and 1968. Today the farm is run by Henry Marionnet along strictly organic guidelines. There are 60 hectares of vines producing 400,000 bottles per annum and the emphasis is on creating wine which is a true reflection of the local terroir. The Domaine is for the most part planted with Gamay Noir for the red wines and Sauvignon for the whites. This particular Gamay is from 33 hectares of vines planted mostly between 1967 and 1978 and grown on clay, silica and gravel, known locally as ‘perruches’.
Ruby-red in colour, this delicious red displays notes of sweet red berries on the nose, vibrant red cherry and blueberry fruit on the palate and a refreshing acidity on the finish. Silky smooth with a concentrated purity, this can be served lightly lightly chilled from the fridge. Try with spicy chicken dishes, cannelloni with ricotta cheese or sweet and sour pork.
