The Di Majo Norante winery is located to the north of the Gargano in Molise on the estate of the Marquis Norante of Santa Cristina. The estate has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines since the 1800s and in 1960 a modern cantina was constructed and the vines replanted in the Ramitello zone. Optimal exposure, constant breezes during the summer and excellent soil composition combine to create a particularly favourable environment for the production of wine. Alessio di Majo runs the estate on a strictly organic basis (certification granted in 1997) and is advised by renowned oenologist Riccardo Cotarella. This light and fresh red is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the Sciabolone and Martarosa vineyards and harvested in late October. The wine is aged in large oak barrels for 6 months.
A bright garnet-red in the glass. On the nose, scents of violets and woodland fruits. Smooth and refreshing on the palate with bags of ripe fruit underlined by fresh elegant tannins. A medium finish with pleasant spicy notes makes this a great food wine with ossobuco, roast beef in a Madeira sauce or a chunk of fresh Taleggio cheese.
