The 15 hectare Clos Saint Michel is situated in the village of Sorgues on the road to Chateauneuf du Pape. Only 3 of the estate's hectares cover AOC Chateauneuf du Pape, the remaining 12 being turned over to AOC Cotes-du-Rhone production. The estate has been in the hands of the Mousset family for 60 years and the business today is run by Franck Mousset alongside his brother, Olivier, both 4th generation wine makers. This rare white Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Roussanne and 20% Bourboulenc. All the grapes are harvested manually and fermented separately in stainless steel tanks before ageing in 225 litre oak barrels for 6 months. Only 6% of total Chateauneuf du Pape production is white and demand far outstrips supply, therefore this wine is necessarily limited in availability. It will keep for a further 5-7 years.

A delicate straw-yellow in colour. Exotic scents of acacia and wild mint jostle with honey, beeswax and vanilla. On the palate, subtle yet rich with concentrated tropical fruit flavours backed up with hints of green herbs. 'Waxy' in texture with a lengthy finish, this makes for a great food wine with baked scampi and spinach in a pastis sauce, roast wild duck served with a quince purée or cep mushrooms stuffed with snails and chicken mousse.
