The Ciello estate, originally known as Cantina Rallo, was founded in Marsala in 1860 by Don Diego Rallo, although today the company is run by the Vesco family who took over in 1996. There are 100 hectares in total, all treated organically and to be found in the IGP of Alcamo, while the cellars are situated in an impressive 19th century building on the seafront at Marsala. Ciello produces what is generally agreed to be the best-known IGP wines in the area from local indigenous grapes such as Cataratto and Nero d'Avola, in addition to an excellent range from such international varieties as Merlot and Chardonnay. This smooth and aromatic red is 100% Nero d'Avola and makes for a very approachable aperitif.

A bright ruby-red in the glass. Scents of cassis, plums and blueberries. In the mouth, ripe and pleasantly tannic with further red fruit flavours and hints of vanilla. The finish is lingering. Great with roast tenderloin of pork stuffed with garlic and raisins, chicken breasts with tomato sauce, artichoke and feta cheese or a classic Sicilian pizza topped with a black olive tapenade, sardines and Provolone cheese.
