Chateau le Roc is one of the leading producers in the Cotes du Frontonnais of southwest France. Situated on the left bank of the river Tarn in Southwest France, the estate has been run by brothers Jean-Luc and Frederic Ribes since 1988. The region is noted for the Negrette grape, in itself unremarkable, but excellent when blended with Cabernet Sauvignon or Syrah as is the case with this 'Classique', a blend of 60% Negrette, 35% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Earthy and savoury, drink with hearty stews.

Deep purple in colour. Distinctive aromas of violets, cinammon and cassis. Firm and savoury on the palate with notes of Morello cherries, liquorice and bitter almonds. The finish is long with soft, chalky tannins. It's spicy acidity makes this a versatile food wine. Particularly suited to rustic dishes such as braised leg of lamb with garlic or shoulder of lamb stuffed with peppers, breadcrumbs and shallots. Good also with mushroom pate.
