Chateau la Croix Chantecaille is located just a stone's throw away from the fabled vineyards of Chateau Petrus and Cheval Blanc. The estate is owned by Anne Carole Angle and comprises of a mere 8.5 hectares of vines while the winemaking duties fall to Jean-Philippe Fort from the Michel Rolland stable. This plummy red is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and is aged in new oak barrels for 12 months. Great Sunday lunch wine
A dark ruby in colour. On the nose, notes of chocolate, cassis, plums and tobacco. On the palate, medium-full bodied with medium acidity and soft tannins. The finish is lingering with further black fruit notes with a herbaceous edge. Great with entrecote a la Bordelaise, veal kidneys with cepes or roast leg of goat with garlic and sorrel.
