Celliers Jean d'Alibert is based in the La Liviniere area of the Minervois appellation of Languedoc-Roussillon and is among the most ambitious and quality-focused wineries in the south of France. The company brings together 1,500 wine growers spread over 7,000 hectares around Carcassonne and the Minervois - from small village cooperatives to larger domaines and chateaux. As a result the terroir varies greatly from schistous terraces to limestone hillsides, producing in turn an excellent range of wines, all of which bear the d'Alibert hallmark of approachability and value for money. This particular 100% Merlot has bags of blackberry fruit and more than a touch of ripe tannins.
A dark purple-red in colour. On the nose, aromatic black cherry fruits backed up by notes of black pepper and vanilla. The palate is well structured with mineral notes. Dry with sweet tannins and an earthy finish. Great with grilled pork chops basted in apple juice and brown sugar, roasted guinea fowl with celeriac and sweet potato or a fennel and tomato gratin.
