The organic Cantina di Toblino was founded in 1960 in the Trentino Alto-Adige region of northern Italy. The vines and winery are situated next to Lake Toblino where the gentle breezes and cooling microclimate make for excellent growing conditions. There are currently 500 members who contribute to the co op and the company itself farms approximately 40 hectares locally. The wines enjoy DOC Trentino status and in 1999 a new winery was built next to the original building to further improve quality and production. A range of reds and whites are made at the co op and this particular Pinot Grigio is light and fresh with a particularly aromatic nose.
A brilliant light-straw in colour. Aromas of pear and yellow plum with hints of lime. On the palate, fresh and clean with a pronounced acidity leading to a refreshing finish. Great food wine with the local smoked speck, ruffoi cimbri al burro (savoy cabbage cooked with bacon, parmesan cheese and butter or trout poached in vinegar, lemon juice, bay leaves and cloves.
