The vineyards of Bodegas Honorio Rubio surround the small town of Cordovín in La Rioja Alta 20km south of Haro and 30km south east of Logroño, an area famous in northern Spain for making "El Clarete de Cordovín", a light refreshing rosé style wine. The family Rubio-Villar owns a total of 15 hectares spread across the region of Cordovín in La Rioja and controls production of another 60 hectares owned by wine growers from whom the family have purchased grapes for many years. This particular Orange wine is made from Viura - Rioja's white grape - and the colour is obtained by lengthy maceration of the skins and juice together for up to 10 months. This process also protects the must so that no added sulphur is required at the time of bottling. Only 1963 bottles were made so early ordering is recommended.

A deep amber in colour. On the nose, aromas of baked apple, olives and honey. On the palate, fresh yet ripe with nutty notes and a touch of bitter spice. The acidity is forward and the finish lingering. Great with bold flavours such as Moroccan tagines, slow roasted shoulder of lamb with sage and rosemary or a smoky baba ghanoush.
