Bodegas Benito Urbina is situated in the town of Cuzcurrita de Rio Tiron in Rioja Alta. There are 75 hectares in total - 65 of Tempranillo and 10 of Graziano, Mazuelo and Viura - and the estate has been in the family hands for 4 generations. In 1975 the family decided to age and bottle their own wines and to this end major investment in the cellar and vineyards has taken place alongside a more organic approach to its viticulture. This excellent Crianza is predominantly Tempranillo with a little Graziano and spends 12 months in American oak and 6 months in the bottle before release.

A dark cherry-red in colour. On the nose scents of blackcurrants and plums with a little leather. On the palate, approachable and well structured with a smooth texture. The finish is persistent with damson notes. Perfect with roast lamb. Also great with pimientos de padron (tiny red peppers fried in oil and sprinkled with salt) or a traditional Spanish pork stew with morcilla (blood sausage) and cabbage.
