Architects Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerosa, originally from Piemonte, began making wine and restoring ancient vineyards in the Massís de Bonastre in 2000, and today their estate, Partida Creus (named after the ancient crosses that marked the boundary lines between vineyard parcels) has become one of the most sought-after and celebrated natural wineries in Catalonia. No chemicals are employed in the vineyards and only naturally occurring yeasts are used. Focusing on single-varietal bottling of indigenous grape varieties like Trepat, Garrut, Moscatel and Cartoixa Vermell, they make small quantities of superb wines in numerous different bottlings, all unified by a distinctive house style - raw, visceral reds and briny, savoury whites. The BN Blanco is mainly Macabeo with a splash of Cartoixa Vermell which give up a wonderfully tart and clean white.
An opaque light pink in colour. Scents of apricots, freshly cut hay and stewed apple. On the palate, dry and fresh with a mouth-watering acidity. The finish is savoury and piquant with saline hints. Drink with a green mango salad, whitebait fritters or a plate of boquerones frito.
