This juicy red comes from an excellent cooperative based in the village of Servian near Beziers in the southern Languedoc and is a great example of the value-for-money wines being made in the area today. 'Terre du Sud' translates into 'soil of the south' and the wine is classified under the Vin de Pays de Mediterranee appellation - a large wine making region founded in 1999 stretching from the Ardeche to Corsica. This particular red wine is a blend of 40% Grenache Noir, 30% Merlot and 30% Cinsault and packs plenty of well structured fruit.

A dark purple-red in colour. Look for earthy aromas of black cherries and tobacco with some tarry notes. Quite dense in structure on the palate with subtle, smokey flavours of cassis, vanilla and plums. Fresh and mineral, this is an approachable wine with a long finish. Try with a shepherd's pie, stuffed aubergines with tomato and ham or pebronata (Provencal veal stew with peppers and tomatoes).
