This excellent 7-hectare estate is situated in the village of Husseren and is run by Andre's son Christophe, who trained in Burgundy and Australia and who took over from his father in 1990. Winemaking has run in the family for over 200 years and Christophe is the 9th generation winemaker to take over the reins of the family estate. The vines are situated on the famed plateau of Eguisheim and include 2 hectares of grands crus vineyards at Eichberg and Pfersigberg. This rich Pinot Blanc is from 30 year-old vines and is aged in large (900lt) oak tonneau before bottling. Delicious!
A pale straw-yellow in colour with green flecks. On the nose, fresh scents of citrus and pineapple. On the palate, refreshing with excellent acidity with notes of green fruits, lime with a touch of vanilla. The finish is bright and fresh. The vibrant acidity makes this a great food wine. Great with sushi (try crab sushi), Matelote de poissons d'Alsace (fish stew with crayfish, cream and mushrooms) or Asian-style lemon chicken.
