Alain Brumont is generally acknowledged not only as the best wine-grower in Madiran, but also as one of the best in France. He owns several properties in Madiran in southwest France with Chateau Montus being one of the most important. The vineyards of Montus are superbly situated on hillsides of gravel and 'Cuvee Prestige', is made entirely from the Tannat grape. It is then aged in new oak barrels for 16 months. To try this wine is to realise why it gives many of the top Bordeaux chateaux a run for their money. Drink now or keep for a further 10-12 years
Almost black in colour. Packed with smoky aromas of raspberry, blackberry and leather. On the palate firm layers of dark red fruits and tannins. Rustic, masculine and spicy in character. The classic accompaniment to confit of duck, Cassoulet or roast loin of wild boar with chestnuts.
