The estate was founded by Bill and Susan Sokol Blosser in 1971 in the Dundee Hills of Oregon, some 30 miles south west of Portland on America's west coast. 6 years were spent renovating the vineyards and cellar, the first vintage being released in 1977. The 35 hectare vineyards are farmed organically, certification being granted in 2005. Local organic straw, organic cow and horse manure, grape pomace and organic rock phosphate all contribute to the composting, while the insect population is kept in check by a resident flock of bluebirds. Although Pinot Noir is the main grape grown, plantings of Pinot Gris, Muller-Thurgau, Syrah and Zinfandel have also been made. 'Evolution Red 9th Edition' is a blend of the afore-mentioned red grape varieties and is bright and fresh with excellent acidity. A great food wine!

A vibrant purple-red in colour. On the nose notes of red summer berries, sweet spice and crushed violets, underscored by cocoa and an earthy minerality. Very approachable on the palate with great acidity and a refreshing texture leading to further red fruit flavours. The finish is crisp and lingering. Try with grilled Andouillette with mashed potatoes and a mustard sauce, roast spiced lamb cutlets with pilau rice or a simple chilli pepper omelette.
