Bodega Sanchez Ayala was established in 1789 making it one of the oldest bodegas in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. After getting into financial difficulties in the 1980's the business was acquired by Seville businessman, José Luis Barrera, who has since invested heavily in the vineyards and winery in order to restore the bodega to its former glory. Gabriella Mazanilla is a wonderful example of this particular sherry style, acquiring a depth and complexity from a longer ageing period than most other examples of Manzanilla. In addition the wine undergoes a very light filtration in order to preserve its authenticity and retain expressiveness.
A pale golden in the glass. Fresh and nutty on the nose with yeasty notes. On the palate ripe and fresh with a touch of saltiness on the finish. Great aperitif. Otherwise try with pan-fried sardines, sashimi or a cooling bowl of gazpacho.
