The Cooperative Agrícola Castellana is situated in the heart of the DORueda, on the outskirts of the town of La Seca, where it was founded in 1935 by a small but dedicated group of ambitious wine-makers. Today it consists of some 400 members who between them cultivate 2,000 hectares of vineyards, with modern equipment for the production of seven million litres of wine per harvest (predominantly white wine), and facilities for maturing one million of these in oak. This crunchy Verdejo is packed with green fruit flavours and is unoaked.
A pale yellow in colour with green flecks. On the nose, scents of pear, stone-fruit and honey. On the palate, stone and orchard fruit with some citrus and notes of tropical fruit. The finish is mineral with salty hints. A very approachable and food-friendly wine. Try with grilled swordfish and a green herb salsa, steamed fillet of sea bass on a bed of fennel with tarragon sauce or spiced clams with chilli, ginger, turmeric and lots of crusty bread!
