The Winery of Good Hope is based 30 miles to the east of Cape Town in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa. Here the vines are grown on well drained alluvial soils on hilly terrain with most vineyards lying at an elevation of about 100 metres in a sheltered valley. The vines also benefit from a Mediterranean climate with warm and dry growing seasons that are favourable in the production of high quality wines. Several parcels over two individual vineyard sites are used in the production of this particular Pinot Noir, the first at altitude on the cooler mountain slopes of Elgin, the second on the ocean-facing hilltop of Faure, in the Stellenbosch-Helderberg region. The wine is aged in 600 litre oak barrels producing a clean and mineral Pinot with great minerality and a balanced acidity.

A bright cherry-red in the glass. Red fruit aromas abound with a hint of mint and earth. On the palate, refreshing and mineral in texture with further red berry flavours leading to a lingering finish. A succulent and expressive Pinot that represents great value for money. Try with pappardelle with a rabbit ragout, rigatoni with roasted artichokes, red peppers and asparagus or duck and wild mushroom risotto.
