The estate was founded by the late Gianni Masciarelli in 1978, with the first wines being released in 1981. In 1987 Gianni married Marina Cvetic and between them they expanded the initial 2.5 hectares of vineyards to the present day 350 hectares scattered in 144 towns in Abruzzo's 4 provinces of Chieti, Teramo, Pescara and l'Aquila. All the vineyards are rich in minerals and clay which lend a 'stoney' aspect to the wines. This bold and beautifully structured red comes from vineyards situated in Loreto Aprutino (Pescara) and is fermented in stainless steel for 18 months before further ageing in oak barrels for 14 months.

Ruby-red in colour with blue flashes, the nose suggests forest fruits, cacao and vanilla. On the palate, full-bodied and complex yet elegant with earthy notes leading to a lingering finish. Great with anchovy and caper crostini, Arrosticini (lamb kebabs) or saffron potato cakes.
