This plummy red comes from the Lalande winery based in the heart of Beziers in the Languedoc and is a blend of Syrah and Grenache Noir with a splash of Merlot. The vines for this wine are cultivated on soils composed of pebbly scree and clay from an area to the south east of the city. The grapes are de-stemmed with a traditional vinification including two-week fermentation on skins. After a pneumatic pressing the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks giving a refreshing yet spicy red.
A youthful dark ruby in the glass. Concentrated and spicy aromas of plums, blackberries and white pepper. Round and open on the palate with fresh red fruit flavours and a pronounced minerality. The finish is short yet ripe. Try with baked ham glazed with honey, orange and ginger, lamb kebabs or duck rillettes.
