The estate is based in Morgon and was founded by Michel Lapierre at the turn of the 20th century. However, the success of the modern domaine is largely down to the hard work and innovation of Michel's grandson, Marcel and his wife Marie, who took over in 1973. Today the business continues to be run by Marie with the help of her son Matthieu. There are 13 hectares in total including 2 on the fabled Cote de Py, and the estate has been organic since 1981. This juicy red is 100% Gamay from a 9 hectare plot of 60 year-old vines planted on granitic soil. No sulphur is used in the cellar and after bottling the wine is left to rest for 2 months before release. Fresh and fruity with low tannins, this makes for great accompaniment to fish dishes.
A bright crimson-purple in colour. Aromas of red cherries, cassis and strawberries mixed in with pleasantly earthy notes. Juicy and light on the palate with notes of summer red fruit flavours and silky tannins leading to a refreshing finish. Try chilled with roasted cod, coq au vin or prawn dumplings with a sweet chilli sauce.
